An unassuming 56-year old Magsasaka Siyentista (MS), Jonathan Tayaben just returned from his morning farm tasks when I first saw him. He smiled at me as soon as I approached him and displayed an apologetic gesture for not being able to meet me earlier. The farm was abuzz with life the morning we sat down for this interview. The makeshift receiving area of his farmhouse was open, allowing the air to circulate, making the heat bearable. Meanwhile, his wife Aileen was busy preparing our snacks - sliced pineapples and fried plantains (banana) which she has harvested from the farm.
