Scaling up Business Operations of Agri-based Entrepreneurs through KAMMP Mentoring

CABAGAN, Isabela. "Stand with what you start; have a mindset that is achievable,” said Ms. Jennelyn D. Dumwat, Manager of Amballo Pineapple Producers Cooperative in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya. She is a participant to the Kapatid Agri-mentor Me Program (KAMMP). KAMMP is designed to optimize agricultural industry clustering and market linkages to achieve enterprise development (KAMMP training design).

The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Trainign Center 02 (ATI-RTC 02) invited the PCE-Go Negosyo to conduct a two-week mentoring/coaching to 32 officers and members of the organizations involved in agri-based entrepreneurship from the four provinces of region 02 namely, Isabela, Cagayan, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya.

The mentoring aimed at aligning the mindset and values of the participants that are essential to run a successful agri-enterprise. It also taught the participants on practical strategies in expanding their business. Mr. Enrique Rey Villaroman from PCE-Go Negosyo discussed entrepreneurial mind-setting and values formation, marketing management and business canvass model (BCM). Mr. Alfredo A. Buma-a, Chairman of Quezon Dairy and Agri. Farmers’ Cooperative in Quezon, Isabela appreciated mind-setting which he said, “we have to set our life, connect our mind and heart and commitment to the cooperative/association”. He further believed that not all endeavors are successful. There is always failure but someday there will be victory.

On the mentoring session, Atty. Judith Rowena Gamueda of PCE-Go Negosyo mentored on the basic accounting for non-accountants and finance management wherein participants were given assignment on BCM and financial plan and marketing plan. Meanwhile, she also discussed business law focused on obligations and contract.

On the other hand, Mr. Pablito Villegas of the same organization, shared farming operations, agri-supply and value chain, the important factors in successful agri-preneurship. Mr. Bienvenido Nito likewise tackled basic cooperative management and business plan development.
After the mentoring, participants are expected to scale up their business operations after crafting their business plan.

The KAMMP mentoring/coaching was conducted in November 13-16 and November 21-23, 2018 at ATI-RTC 02 Cabagan Center, Cabagan, Isabela.
