SAN MATEO, Isabela. For the Rural-based Organizations to have alternative enterprises, selected RBO members were trained on goat meat production.
This three-day training was able to strengthen the capacity of farmer-members in goat production. It further aimed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes of these farmers towards agripreneurship. This will contribute to the increase in the number of goat raisers from backyard to semi-commercial or commercial raisers.
During the opening program, Dr. Jimmy Abarabar, Chief of Partnership and Accreditation Services Section quoted George Washington in his message saying ‘agriculture is the most healthful, most useful, and most noble employment of men’. He truly believed on the quotation because he said, “if others stop from working, no one will die, while if farmers stops producing, we will die”. That’s why he further said that participants are here to learn how to produce more goat meat, and to have available and affordable food.
At the end of the training, the Center will be giving after training support to the participants such as materials for the construction of goat house and stocks.
The training was conducted last October 17-19, 2018 at G-Melina Hall, ATI-RTC 02, San Mateo, Isabela.
