CABAGAN, Isabela. After the training on rice crop manager advisory service for the Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Centers, 26 FITS Centers who participated in the training were given global position system (GPS) device as support in implementing the activity.
Said device with complete accessories will be used for the field measurement of the rice farmers. “This will ensure accurate rice crop manager recommendation to be given to the interviewed farmers because the area is based on the actual measurement,” Dr. Claris Alaska said.
Each FITS center is required to measure at least 35 fields per season. However, majority of the 26 FITS centers committed to continue conducting field measurement until they will be able to cover all their farmers.
To date, 14 FITS centers already received their gadgets and already started field measurement especially in areas who are on the stage of land preparation.
Meanwhile, the municipal local government units who do not have gadget support, can ask for assistance from DA-RFO 02 in conducting field measurement and generating RCM recommendation.
