Radyo Eskwela on Swine, Chicken Airs Anew

SAN MATEO, Isabela. The Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center 02 is airing again the Radyo Eskwela School-on-the-Air (SOA) on Low-cost Swine Production and Upgrading of Native Chicken in the southern area of the region.

It was launched last June 19, 2018 over DWSI in Santiago City and DWNS of Nueva Vizcaya State University Bayombong Campus.

The Radyo Eskwela is being aired every Tuesday through DWSI 864 kHz Sonshine Radio at 5:00 to 6:00 in the morning, and through DWNS 96.5 mHz U-FM at 11:00 to 12:00 noon with a replay at 4:00 in the afternoon.

At least 500 farmers and livestock raisers from the 10 municipalities from the provinces of Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya are the students of the SOA.

Last year, about 600 farmers and livestock raisers from the 1st District of Isabela and 3rd District of Cagayan finished the SOA.

The Radyo Eskwela aims to increase the awareness of the livestock raisers on the low-cost swine production technology and upgrading of native chicken.

Veterinarians, practitioners and industry experts will be discussing swine management, breeds and breeding, farm management, health management, postharvest technology and upgrading of native chicken.

To monitor the progress of learning of the participants, a weekly quiz will be given to them. Moreover, participant can join the discussion through text messaging wherein they can send their questions, feedback and greetings.

The SOA will be aired for 12 weeks and expected to finish on September.

Prior to the airing of the Radyo Eskwela, series of community briefings and enrollment sessions in the partner municipalities.

School-on-the-air is an educational radio program that applies the classroom learning system. Through this, the target listeners will enroll, and take quizzes and examinations to monitor their learning progress. The program will demystify scientific jargons and able to explain the technologies in simpler and popular language that the target participants understand.
