SAN MATEO, Isabela. The second batch of the Regional Roll-out on Enabling AgRiDOC: “A New Breed of Agricultural Extension and Development Officers of the Community commenced on May 28, 2018 at ATI-RTC 02 San Mateo Center.
The season-long training program is an experiential course with transformational leadership as its foundation for the new breed of rice extension professionals. After graduation, the AgRiDOCs are expected to help transform rice-based farming communities toward competitiveness, sustainability, and resiliency using practical, science-based, and locally appropriate and market-oriented strategies.
Twenty-eight extension workers from the different municipalities of region 02 are participating in the said training.
During the opening program, ATI-RTC 02 Training Center Superintendent Ms. Imelda M. Guillermo encouraged the participants to do their best in the training and to be a better person and a better Agricultural Extension Workers. Likewise, she expressed her hope that this training would give them new insights and experience that they can use as an Agricultural Extension Workers. And she assured them that they will learn a lot from the AgRiDOC training.
The AgRiDOC training program has six modules to wit: (1) Be transformed), (2), AgRiCool, (3), AgRiSurvivors, (5) PalaYcheck and PalaYamanan v2.0, (5) Rise with Rice, and (6) Be RICEponsible.
In addition, the participants are maintaining their Participatory Technology Demonstration for their hands-on activities and to showcase the application and progress of their learnings.
In September 2017, 25 AgRiDOCs successfully completed the training program.
The training program is being implemented by the ATI-RTC 02, Philippine Rice Research Institute- Isabela Branch, Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 02, International Rice Research Institute, DA National Rice Program, and the Bureau of Agricultural Research.
