Learning Site (LS) cooperator and farm owners attended a one-day orientation and familiarization on Learning Site Towards Farm School at Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Provincial Office in Iguig, Cagayan on January 25, 2019.
Mr. Ricky G. Valdez, ATI-RTC 02 LS coordinator discussed the Learning Site accreditation as an extension modality. He shared the requirements and qualifications, and the responsibilities of a LS cooperator.
The activity aims to accredit more farm schools on various qualifications for agriculture, forestry, and fishery industry. The program is in support to the implementation of the Republic Act No. 10618 or the Rural Farm Schools Act—an act establishing farm schools as alternative delivery mode of secondary education.
The DA-ATI is mandated to provide continuous technical skills training and provision of extension materials including, but not limited to, books, student workbooks, teaching session guides and other materials or equipment on the subjects offered, and other extension services to the tutors of rural farm schools.
On the other hand, Dr. Romeo A. Talosig, TESDA Cagayan Provincial Director, discussed the process of farm school accreditation under the Program on Accelerating Farm School Establishment (PAFSE) of TESDA. He also shared the different regular and scholarship programs being offered by TESDA.
