SAN JOSE, Province of Dinagat Islands- The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 successfully conducted the one-day Provincial Consultation for FY 2020 Program Implementation and FY 2021 Agri-Fishery Needs Planning Workshop in the Province of Dinagat Islands on July 16, 2019.
It aimed at harmonizing programs among extension service providers of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and determining the needed trainings among stakeholders.
This was attended by the staff from the Municipal Agriculture and Municipal Planning and Development Offices of PDI. Representatives from the private sectors and Partner-Agencies such as the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) also joined in.
Provincial Agriculturist Oswaldo Borja warmly welcomed the participants during the program. He expressed his profound gratitude to ATI for conducting the said activity to harmonize plans and agricultural training programs in the province. Borja encouraged the Municipal Agriculturists to link with the ATI and other partner-agencies for whatever trainings and other activities needed in their respective area of responsibility.
Senior Agriculturist Heracleo Paler acknowledged the participants during the program. On the other hand, Ms. Nena Lomuntad Planning Officer II of ATI-RTC 13 presented the overview of the said activity. This was followed by the presentations of the four (4) banner programs of the DA namely rice, corn, organic agriculture and High Value Crops Development Program. Focal Persons from the ATI-RTC 13 presented the target trainings and activities of the said programs for 2020.
An open forum followed right after the presentations. Status and updates from the PCA and BFAR was highlighted by its respective representative.
This consultation workshop served as an avenue for a coherent extension strategy that is socially inclusive and highly participative.
The ATI is designated as an apex agency for a unified and efficient extension system of the DA as reflected in the Republic Act 8435 also known as AFMA OF 1995. The Institute is mandated to take the lead role in the implementation of extension programs of the DA to ensure that extension services achieve optimum results.
