Massive Info Campaign to bring basic agricultural practices to more farmers

Assistant Secretary for Livestock Enrico Garzon gave his inspirational message to the participants of the Massive Campaign on Agricultural Production Technologies held last June 21, 2019 at Samar Provincial Gymnasium, Catbalogan City, Samar

CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar- A hundreds of farmers and interested individuals flocked at the Provincial Gymnasium of Samar on June 21, 2019 to attend the Massive Info Campaign on Agricultural Production Technologies- Livestock Advocacy.
DA Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol instructed all the ATI and DA Regional Centers to conduct such campaign in order to bring fundamental knowledge on agricultural practices to more farmers.
It can be noted that in 2018, thousands of farmers have benefited from the Back-to-Basics: Sustainable and Scientific Livestock and Poultry Production Seminars which they were given starter kits. Secretary Piñol wants to intensify and upscale the existing program and bring this to a greater mass.
Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary for Livestock Enrico P. Garzon graced the event. In his message, he emphasized that the area of the Province of Samar is very wide and is suitable for livestock production. “Malawak at malaki and resources ng Samar. Pag na develop ito into a livestock production area, malaki talaga ang magiging potential ng probinsya”, he said.
During the one-day seminar, DA’s services and programs were presented which includes the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) loan packages and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) programs. More so, a pool of technical experts from various agencies have discussed the topics on Free-Range Chicken Production, Itik Pinas Production and Goat Production.
After the seminar, participants from different regional centers convened to attend the coordination meeting on the conduct of the Massive Info Campaign. The said meeting aspired to determine the preparatory steps for the rest of the schedules this year. Asec. Garzon presided the said meeting.
The event was made possible through the coordination and concerted efforts of ATI, DA, National Livestock Program, Bureau of Animal Industry, DA-Agriculture and Fishery Information Division, Office of the Secretary, Undersecretary for Administration and Assistant Secretary for Livestock.
