KABUNTALAN, Maguindanao - A total of 120 farmers from the Municipality of Kabuntalan, Maguindanao has received farm inputs as part of the support from JICA-LIFT UP. The farmers from the selected four barangays of this municipality underwent a 4-month training on Climate Smart Farmer’s Field School (CSFFS) which was focused on rice production.
JICA-LIFT UP, also known as the Japan International Cooperation Agency- Livelihood Improvement for the Transformation of Underserved Population, is a project aimed at increasing the income of the farmers and uplift their living conditions thru hands-on trainings and provision of farm inputs. The inputs given will help them in the next component of the project which is the technology adaption.
“Nagpapasalamat kami sa ATI, JICA, DAF-ARMM at LGU ng Kabuntalan sa lahat ng tulong na ibinigay nila. Talagang napakasaya namin dahil ma-aapply na namin ang aming natutunan sa FFS”, said Ms Bainot Palalisan, a farmer from Barangay Matilak.
Further, each of them has received three sacks of fertilizers, a sack of palay seeds, a bottle of herbicide and a bottle of insecticide. Center Director Abdul I. Daya-an led the turn over and distribution of the said inputs. He encouraged the farmers to take good care of the assistance given. “Malaking oportunidad ito na ibinigay sa inyo ng JICA. Sana ay pahalagahan ninyo ito at maipatuloy parin ninyo ang proyektong ito kahit na wala na ang support namin”, he said.
The same farm inputs will be given this month to the farmers of the Munipality of Ampatuan, Pandag and South Upi.
