TANTANGAN, South Cotabato- In the bid to help farmers overcome the problems they face in agriculture sector, the ATI in Region 12 has organized an Information Caravan to let them know of the interventions of the government and various support they can get from different attached agencies.
More than 200 rice farmers from several barangays in the town of Tantangan have gathered in the 1st Batch of RCEF Information Caravan held at the Municipal Gymnasium on Thursday, February 13.
The caravan mainly aims to inform the farmers about the Rice Tarrification Law and the components of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund which include the mechanization component, seed component, credit component and extension component.
Aside from bringing to farmers the key interventions of the Department of Agriculture and its agencies in support to rice, the caravan also served as an avenue for farmers to raise their concerns and problems.
Present during the caravan were Mr. Jose Nori Buhat from PhilRice, Engr. Ray Adarna from PHilMech, Mr. Abas Abdula from DA-RFO XII and selected staffs from Municipal Agriculture Office headed by OIC MA Ms Maricel Lazaro. The local officials of Tantangan have also signified their support as they too were present during the caravan.
“To all the farmers present here, let us support the programs of the government especially the Department of Agriculture. Sana lahat ng farmers ng Tantangan ay talagang mag grow at mas matuto pa dahil sa tulong ng ATI sa pag transfer ng technology”, said Hon. Benjamin Figueroa, Municipal Mayor of Tantangan.
Meanwhile, Center Director Abdul Daya-an, in his welcome message, urged the farmers to be listed in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).
“Magpalista kayo sa RSBSA kasi hindi kayo makaka-avail ng tulong mula sa RCEF kung hindi kayo nakapalista.” he said.
Center Director Daya-an also emphasized that each components of RCEF are designed to help the farmers achieve “Masaganang Ani” and “Mataas na Kita”.
The ATI-RTC XII will bring the 2nd leg RCEF Information Caravan on March 12, 2020 in the town of Ampatuan, Maguindanao.
