SURALLAH, South Cotabato- The School on the Air (SOA) on Dairy Buffalo Production with 16 weekly episodes was launched on October 9, 2019 with more or less 500 enrollees from the Municipalities of Surallah, Banga, Norala, Snto Nino, Lake Sebu, T’boli, Tupi and Tantangan in South Cotabato.

Generally, this activity aims to teach the smallholder buffalo raisers about buffalo dairy production to encourage more farmers to go into dairy farming. More so, it also hopes to create sustainable livelihood, better nutrition and general well-being of small farmers.

It is aired over Radyo Bandera FM in Surallah every Wednesday, 11:00 – 11:45 AM, with replays at Radyo Kahiusa in Tupi every Thursday, 4:00 PM. It is facilitated and hosted by ATI XII Information Services Staff.

The said SOA is in partnership with the Philippine Carabao Center and the Provincial Veterinary Office of South Cotabao as co-facilitators and resource persons. Also, Agricultural Technologists from the eight municipalities served as coordinators who helped ATI in the identification of priority beneficiaries. These implementers employ virtual monitoring system that makes sure that enrollees are listening to all episodes. A text line was used to monitor attendances and collect answers during quizzes.

PCC and ATI pledged to distribute exciting awards, prizes and extension support when the 16 live airings culminate on February of 2020.
