TANTANGAN, South Cotabato- A total of forty-one (41) rice farmers from Barangay Bukay Pait, this Municipality, have successfully completed the Season-Long AgRiDOC Affiliated Climate Resilient Farm Business School Farmer-Level.
The 5-month season-long training, which was started from August 2019 up to January this year, was aimed at inculcating to the farmers the basic understanding of climate change and climate resiliency. Also, actions and ways on how to combat the effects of climate change were introduced and taught to them.
DA-RFO XII Agricultural Program Coordination Officer Norberto Leysa said "We should all be equipped, especially the farmers, with the right knowledg on how to cope up with the effects of climate change. Since our country is very vulnerable, the farmers should be prepared all the time".
Meanwhile, Center Director Abdul I. Daya-an highlighted in his message the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) and its effect to farmers. CD Daya-an helped the farmers understand the rice industry situation of the country.
Present during the graduation ceremony were Center Director Abdul I. Daya-an, OIC Municipal Agriculturist Ms Maricel D. Lazaro, Agricultural Extension Workers, ATI-RTC XII staffs and other local officials.
