5-day Basic Training Course on Inbred Rice Seed Production and Certification for Seed Growers conducted in support for RCEF

With the need to identify more certified seed growers to support the implementation of the seed component program of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF), the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI conducted a five-day Basic Training Course on Inbred Rice Seed Production and Certification for Seed Growers last October 28, 2019, to November 1, 2019, held in ATI Training Hall, Panabo City, Davao del Norte.

It was attended by 25 seed grower aspirants from different parts of the Davao Region.

The training aims to increase the number of farmer groups engaging in seed production to increase and improve farmers’ utilization of inbred rice and seeds. It also aims to capacitate the seed growers to produce at least an additional number of high-quality seed.

During the training, participants were able to gain knowledge and upgrade their skills in seed production and certification in terms of the policies, guidelines and strengthen their commitment and involvement in inbred rice seed production and certification.

The training was conducted through various processes that are participatory and experiential to include lecture and discussion, group workshop and reporting, group dynamics and hands-on exercises.

This training is one of the extension support services of the Institute under RCEF.
