The Techno Gabay Program-Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (TGP-FITS) implementers of the province of Davao del Sur held its first consultative meeting on April 25, 2019 at Arnaldo’s Hotel, Digos City.
The said meeting was conducted to monitor the regular functions of FITS and be updated on their current status and new directions. From the nine (9) existing FITS Centers in the province, each representative gave updates on their Center’s status and its regular activities, likewise discussed the issues/problems encountered and provided recommendations to strengthen its operation.
Although some Centers are having issues with internet connectivity, most of the Centers are operating and serving their clients well, especially in the distribution of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, biodynamic calendars, and any printed references. Meanwhile, the selected FITS Centers enhanced with Rice Crop Manager (RCM) are also intensifying the promotion of RCM to the farmers, and they are generating a minimum of 100 recommendations per season, as committed.
Moreover, FITS Centers with Magsasaka Siyentistas (MS) whose appointments are only until this year, are reminded to submit a letter of endorsement as basis for their renewal, or they may opt to recommend a new MS which is subject for evaluation by the ATI.
To further boost the FITS Centers’ services, they are expected to build up the promotion of agri-fishery and extension (AFE) projects and activities, and that of the ATI’s through social media accounts.
