Seminar on Free-Range Chicken Production highlights opportunities

STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan - Around 60 participants coming from different municipalities of Pangasinan attended the Free Seminar on Free-Range Chicken held at the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC I) Multi-Purpose Hall, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on November 23, 2018. The seminar was in support to the National Livestock Program in extending Free-Range Chicken Production in the Philippines.

Mr. Rhoderick Gray, member of Masagana Farmers’ Association and the owner of Farm Ambiance, provided lectures, sharing, and demonstrations to the attendees of the seminar. Mr. Gray, as a known practitioner of free-range chicken production, discussed his Probiotic Herbal Technique (PHT) which he applies on his poultry. The components of PHT are squash, ginger, saba and red chili. Using PHT will make a chicken more delicious. “Mas masarap ang manok kung ganun ang practice mo. Kahit hindi pa yan luto, mayroon ng lasa. Masarap na dahil iyan sa PHT,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rogelio Evangelista, Center Director of ATI-RTC I, encouraged the participants to take notes while listening and to feel free to raise their concerns. “Importante na magkaroon kayo ng participation dito sa seminar. Marapat lamang na kayo ay magtanong kung kayo ay naguguluhan para kayo ay maliwanagan at may matutunan kesa uuwi kayong walang natutunan.” Dr. Evangelista said while in jest. He also thanked the participants for attending such seminar in spite of no food was served.
