BURGOS, La Union – The Climate Resilient Agriculture Beneficiaries of Burgos Cooperative (CRABBCO) of Barangay Imelda, Burgos, La Union, as one of the recipients of the assistance given by the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Network I (RAFEN I) and Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC I), has undergone Training on Basic Cooperative Bookkeeping for CRA Beneficiaries.

After a series of training offered by the ATI-RTC I to the beneficiaries in equipping their capacities of improving their livelihood, this training was conducted to help them have a good jumpstart in managing their business with the right skills. It also helped them not only to operate their business but to plan the growth of their cooperative.

During the lecture proper, Ms. Christine Joy Combes and Ms. Fiona Bianca Cuenca of the Cooperative Development Authority-Dagupan City discussed Basic Accounting, Budgeting and Auditing. The farmer-beneficiaries learned terminologies about Basic Accounting such as debit, credit, assets, liabilities and other terminologies which will help them understand business transactions.

On the second day, Ms. Karen Duculan and Ms. Shenna Nisperos of the Department of Trade and Industry-La Union talked about Basic Business and Record Keeping for Small and Medium Enterprises. Furthermore, the beneficiaries were taught how to use a journal and general ledger in documenting business, and how to properly operate balance sheets.

“Bawat miyembro ay may kanya-kanyang duties and responsibilities, not only the officers at mga masisipag ang gagawa, that is why it is called coop – kooperasyon,” Ms. Maricel Dacapias, Project Officer, said. “Kung ano ang mga pagkukulang ng ATI at gobyerno lokal, kayo na ang magpupuno dahil kayo ay iisa. Kailangan ninyong tulungan ang inyong mga sarili dahil darating ang araw na hindi lang kayo ang magiging kliyente kaya’t mabuting natututo kayo sa mga ganito,” she added.

The said training was conducted last September 5-6, 2019 in Brgy. Imelda, Burgos, La Union.
