Corn (Zea mays L.) is one of the important crops in the Philippines. It is the major source of income and employment. The Department of Agriculture (DA) Corn Program aims to increase production of quality corn for human consumption, feeds and industrial uses, as well as empower the farmers and increase their income, thereby improving their quality of life.

"Instant" food were commonly known nationwide. But, did you know that these were the reason behind instant diseases and instant deaths today?

In the new millennium, the population rapidly swells. The demand of food also increases but the supply were not enough. Then, it became a problem. People researched and discovered different ways to produce more products for a short period, in order to supply the demand.

Twenty FITS and counting

Continuing the efforts in sustaining the Techno Gabay Program (TGP) of the Agricultural Training Institute, the Regional Training Center of Zamboanga Peninsula has been encouraging Local Government Units (LGU) to submit letter of intent and other basic requirements for Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Centers establishment.

After the transfer of the TGP from the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARD), finally another set of FITS centers were successfully launched.
