Thirty-two (32) participants, mostly farmers, had ‘ground operations’ on the training titled Integrated Diversified Organic Farming System (IDOFS) conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center VIII (ATI-RTC 8) on October 3-8, 2016 at La Granja de Reyna Farms, Brgy. Bagacay, Tacloban City. The training aimed for the participants to learn and gain knowledge and skills on IDOFS and utilize it as a small-scale enterprise.

Ladderized Training on Agricultural Machinery Operation Concluded

USTP-CLAVERIA, CLAVERIA, MISAMIS ORIENTAL--- Attended by 23 agricultural engineers from different Local Government Units (LGUs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and private sectors, a Ladderized Training on Agricultural Machinery Operation RMO NC II transpired for its first batch, Phase II & III.

Participants have undergone different practical trainings and simulations of different rice machines such as tractors with implement, rice mill, flat bed dryer, hand tractor, rice thresher, power sprayer and knapsack sprayer from MOSCAT Farm, Claveria, Misamis Oreintal.

Pushing the Youth Forward through Agriculture

Distracted with the rise of new technologies, children are veering away from agriculture. Some cannot see the significance of agriculture – being dirty and all. Some cannot even identify crops or plants without seeing their fruits.

Luckily, in a town located in Tarlac, agriculture is still being taught to the youth.

A native from Ramos, Tarlac, Mr. Melecio Reguindin, Jr., a computer teacher turned full-time farmer, approached the agriculture teachers in Guiteb Elementary School and shared to them ways on how to improve the activities for the children.

Pearl of Palayan City: Model Farming Family

Palayan City is home to two of Nueva Ecija’s prime products—Blast (calamansi juice drink) and Palaman –C (calamansi jam). Apart from these citrus-based items, Palayan is  also the home of a family members' whose interest in agriculture was embedded early on in their bloodline. Each one believes that farming is made easier when  everyone in the family  works together.

ATI XII Getting Ready for ISO 9001:2015

TANTANGAN, South Cotabato - Intent on giving importance to quality services and wanting to achieve higher operating efficiency, ATI-XII who has been an ISO organization since last year (ISO 9001:2008) would want to go further by leveling up into ISO 9001:2015 standards. 

  As a certified ISO 9001 quality management system, ATI-XII personnel proved that the quality of its services rose and consequently improved the working atmosphere and reduced the pressure of work among themselves.  More so, being an accredited ISO organization, there were clear processes, structures, tasks and responsibilities throughout the entire organization.   In preparation for the leveling up, ATI-XII, in coordination with ATI-CO, held the 2-day ISO Coaching and Technical Guidance to its staff with ISO consultant Mr. Allan Fabella and two other ATI-CO staff last Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, 2017 at the regional office in Tantangan, South Cotabato.  After 2 days, Mr. Fabella announced that the Center achieved 6 NCs and 9 OFIs which meant that the Center is again ready for the actual ISO evaluation this November 2017.   

ATI XII Invades North Cotabato's "Kalivungan Festival"

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato - The weeklong Kalivungan Festival of North Cotabato kicked off last August 28, 2017 at the Provincial Capitol grounds in Amas, Kidapawan City.  The annual festival celebrated by the Cotabateňos started with a street parade within the grounds of the Provincial Capitol attended by various LGU contingents, line agencies, government and non-government organizations.  This was followed by the opening of the exhibit booths near the national highway which was graced by Sen. Cynthia Villar as the guest speaker.    The term “kalivungan” was coined from the indigenous Manobo word which means “gathering”, either for thanksgiving or inter-tribal dialogues.  This year’s festival showcased once again the province’s diverse ethnicities, natural heritage and agro-industrial products.    ATI-XII based in Tantangan, South Cotabato and with two satellite Centers in Kabacan and Midsayap, both located in North Cotabato, participated by occupying a booth where it showcased the Center’s extension activities through the printed tarpaulin displays and non-stop video showing of what ATI is all about and its extension activities in the region highlighting its accredited Learning Sites (LS), School for Practical Agriculture (SPA), and Farm Tourism sites.   

Sen. Cynthia Villar herself paid a visit to ATI-XII’s booth along with Hon. Governor “Lala” Taliňo-Mendoza and other dignitaries.  Sen. Villar even collected several copies of various reading materials on display.  The Center distributed thousands of leaflets, brochures and other IEC materials during the festivity which lasted until September 1, 2017.
