DILIMAN, Quezon City – The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) takes the opportunity to shape more young minds and raise their awareness on the importance of agriculture and fisheries by opening its doors to elementary students in the metro. Over 100 fourth and fifth grade students from Project 6 Elementary School, together with the faculty staff, recently visited the ATI Central Office and participated in an information-sharing session and educational tour.

Just as the institute commits to strengthen the competitiveness and capacities of the Agriculture and Fishery (AF) sector, its Career Development and Management Division recently held the first among this year’s three batches of Training on Extension Management for Municipal Agriculturists on February 13-17, 2017.

DILIMAN, Quezon City – The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) recently held an information-sharing activity with some 50 organic farming practitioners and aspiring farmers from Ligao City, Albay. This is in support to the efforts of the local government of Ligao City to promote integrated, diversified, and organic farming in their locality.

Diliman, Quezon City – To welcome the Women’s Month, six free seminars will be held at the Agricultural Training Institute Central Office (ATI-CO) compound along Elliptical Road on March 2, 2017.

Specifically, these are free seminars on: Virgin Coconut Oil Processing; Vegetable and Fruit Puree Production; Honey Bee Production and Processing; Making Bags and Accessories out of Water Lily; Seaweed Processing; and Herbal Soap Making.

CALOOCAN CITY, Metro Manila – Another community visited equates to the propagation of knowledge on urban gardening. Yesterday, February 15, 2017, marked the first Caloocan City visit of the ATIng Gulayan Street Caravan led by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).

More than 120 Grade 7, 8, and 10 students of Mt. Heights National High School were taught about the basics of urban gardening. Likewise, they got to experience a hands-on demonstration on how to plant vegetables in some usual household finds like used mineral water bottles.

The Master in Public Management major in Rural Development (MPM-RD) is an 18-month scholarship program that seeks to foster the rural development initiatives in the Philippines. The program scholars are permanent employees from three major rural development-oriented government agencies namely: Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and Department of Agriculture (DA). Research shows that 70% of the world consumes Arabica Coffee, which is known for its mild taste and aroma. Hence, the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) and Benguet State University (BSU) came up with a book on various organically-grown Arabica coffee cultivars that are best planted in Benguet and could be sold at reasonable prices.
